The Power of Song produces the official kick-off event for St. Petersburg's Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service volunteer programs with its event, Sounds of the Civil Rights Movement: The Power of Song. The production shares the music that drove the movement and the impact of songs as a tool of nonviolence in conflicts today.

In its third year, Sounds of the Civil Rights Movement: The Power of Song is set to go to stage at The Palladium Theater Jan. 8-9, 2017 in St. Petersburg, Fla.

Cast members of Sounds of the Civil Rights Movement prepare for Pulitzer event

The Power of Song Inc. and its partners gathered in preparation for the 100th anniversary of the Pulitzer Prizes, which will be held at the Palladium Theater in St. Petersburg March 31.

September Penn, chief executive officer and artistic director of The Power of Song, is directing the music for the event that will include 20 Pulitzer Prize winners.

C-SPAN will record the show and air it in April.
