The Power of Song Inc. partners with various youth organizations and schools to give students an opportunity to perform on stage with professional artists who also provide clinics and personal mentoring.

Leaders of our organization, including CEO and artistic director September Penn, speak and perform at events and conferences worldwide. They have presented in California, Florida, Tennessee, Illinois, Missouri and other places domestically, as well as internationally in Kenya, Africa and Tokyo, Japan.

From the organization’s inception, The Power of Song Inc. has included various forms of the arts in its presentations, from music to visual art. The first piece of artwork was a hand-painted mural that is the official step-and-repeat for production, Sounds of the Civil Rights Movement: The Power of Song.

The Power of Song Inc. recognizes that the arts — and music in particular — have the ability to unite people who might otherwise be at odds. In partnership with organizations like the Men in the Making African American and Latino male mentoring program, The Power of Song has working forge positive relationships throughout our communities. 


Annual Report

Affecting change the world over

What started as a production that served as the official kick-off event for the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service in St. Petersburg, Fla., has grown into an international entity that is touching people in countries throughout the world. In 2017 and 2018, leaders from The Power of Song shared about the organization in speeches and musically, attracting the attention of NHK TV in Japan, which produced a 15-minute feature on one of its prime shows, NHK TV Direct Talk, seen by 300 million people.

The Power of Song Inc. continues to expand its operations in its home state of Florida and in California, where it became incorporated in 2016, as well as across the globe.
